The community of Ottawa County is mourning the loss of Margaret Lenthe, 78, of Lakeside Marblehead, who died in a crash Saturday morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 9:42 a.m. on March 21, 2026, along State Route 2 near mile marker 122.
Investigators say Lenthe was driving a 2005 Ford Focus westbound when her vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck the center median, and became airborne. The car then landed in the eastbound lanes, where it was struck by an oncoming 2021 Toyota Tacoma.
Lenthe was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Tacoma, a 56-year-old man from Hazel Park, and his passenger sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. Authorities said both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Multiple agencies, including the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and local emergency responders, assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
