Three people were seriously injured in a violent crash Thursday night in Kansas City, according to police.
The Kansas City Police Department said officers responded to the area of 46th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard around 8:25 p.m. for a critical injury collision.
Investigators determined that a silver Hyundai Sonata was traveling northbound on Blue Ridge Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to navigate a sharp curve and ran off the roadway. The vehicle continued through a grassy area before overturning and catching fire.
Emergency crews transported the driver, a front-seat passenger, and a rear-seat passenger to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
Police later updated that the front-seat and rear-seat passengers are in serious but stable condition, while the driver remains in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
