A person riding a scooter was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Kansas City, police said.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, the crash occurred around 2:25 a.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Eastwood Trafficway.
Investigators say the victim was riding a black TAO Motors scooter southeast on MLK Boulevard and was making a left turn onto Eastwood Trafficway with a green light when a dark-colored vehicle traveling northwest ran a red light and struck the scooter.
The impact threw the rider from the scooter, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle fled the area without stopping.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim and are continuing to search for the suspect vehicle.
