The professional wrestling world is mourning the loss of Dennis Condrey, known to fans as “Loverboy,” who has died at the age of 74.
The news was shared by fellow wrestling star Dax Harwood, who paid tribute on Instagram, describing Condrey as “a true pioneer of professional wrestling.” Harwood reflected on their close bond, noting that Condrey would regularly offer feedback and encouragement after matches—advice he says will stay with him forever.
With the blessing of Condrey’s wife, Harwood also announced the creation of a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses and outstanding bills.
Condrey rose to prominence in the late 1970s and 1980s as one-half of the legendary tag team The Midnight Express alongside Bobby Eaton. The duo is widely regarded as one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history.
Tributes have poured in from across the industry, including from All Elite Wrestling, which honored Condrey’s legacy and extended condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
Condrey officially retired from professional wrestling in 2011, leaving behind a legacy that helped shape tag team wrestling for generations.
He is remembered not only for his in-ring talent but also for his mentorship, passion, and lasting impact on the sport.
